Bushman Burners FAQ What is a Bushman Burner?
The Bushman Burner is an attractive functional patio garden heater that when lit radiates heat that can be felt up to 15ft away. They are ideal for the British weather and essential if you wish to make the most of your garden once it starts to get a bit chilly.
Where do they come from?
Based on traditional iron forging kilns and baking ovens the Bushman Burner has been brought into the 20th century. Using modern materials our Bushman Burners are hand-made in Worcester here in England.
Why buy a Bushman Burner?
Many other patio fires are imported from hot dry climates. They are made from clay and some are kiln fired. Most are not designed to be used in wet climates and most have to be brought indoors during the winter. Many of the imported products can only burn soft woods, when other material are burnt some have been known to crack and fall apart.
Our Bushman Burners are hand made from the best materials available and are able to resist high temperatures. Furthermore each Bushman Burner is strong and durable which means that not only can you burn softwood, and hardwood, you can also burn Coalite Smokeless Fuels.
You can leave your Bushman Burner outside during the winter saving that valuable space in your garage or shed.
Bushman burners do not rust like cast iron and as a result will not mess your patio or deck and because they have a wire mesh reinforcing will not fall apart like terracotta's.
Do all Bushman Burners look the same?
Each Bushman Burner is individually hand made. This means that each Burner has approximately the same dimensions, but each and every one will be unique, no moulds or casting methods are used in their manufacture.
What do I do with my Burner in the Winter?
There is no need to bring it indoors we have Burners in Germany and Switzerland that have been subjected to temperatures as low as -23 and then had roaring fires lit in them without any damage what so ever we do however recommend that in areas where extreme frosts are common your burner should be covered when dry with an old blanket and then with one of our hibernation covers this will prevent Spaulding.
What is Spaulding?
Spaulding is the minor flaking of the thin colour coat that covers the strong industrial aggregates Spaulding may occur in areas where extreme and harsh frosts are common Spaulding will not affect the performance of your burner or oven.
Can I use my burner in winter?
Yes sitting in front of a roaring fire in the snow is a most invigorating experience .all Bushman Burners can be lit when frozen however we would suggest that you avoid large quick fires if the burner was wet before freezing. Making a Coalite fire will allow the burner to thaw before coming up to temperature if your burner was covered when dry or is painted then you can light the fire as normal. < Back
